Proposed FY 2013 CBP Budget Boosts Border Intelligence Capabilities
Homeland Security Today: As the US Border Patrol has begun to implement a new national strategy that emphasizes enhanced intelligence collection and analysis to “establish a substantial probability of apprehending terrorists and their weapons as they attempt to enter illegally between” land ports of entry (POEs), and to “disrupt and dismantle transnational organizations that engage in smuggling and trafficking across the US border,” Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) proposed FY 2013 budget calls for important measures to strengthen the agency's overall intelligence capabilities for securing the nation's borders.
