Senate Report Says DHS Consolidation at St. Elizabeths Vital to National Security, Fiscal Outlook

Homeland Security Today: Coinciding with an audit provided to the House Committee on Homeland Security Subcommittee on Oversight and Management last week showing the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) long-term project to construct a new consolidated headquarters at St. Elizabeths is over budget and schedule by $1 billion and 10 years, another report by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs said “finishing the consolidation will improve DHS’s ability to carry out its mission and … save the government as much as a billion dollars over the next 30 years.”
