NDAA would split DoD CIO into management, cyber roles

Federal Times: The Senate Armed Services Committee is backing the creation of a “comprehensive cyber deterrence strategy,” which involves dividing the responsibilities of the Defense Department’s chief information officer and getting rid of the single position altogether, according to a summary of the fiscal 2018 National Defense Authorization Act.

The role of the CIO would be divided between the positions of the chief management officer and a new chief information warfare officer. The chief management officer would perform the business functions of the current CIO role.
