NATO Cyber Defence Centre names new director

Fifth Domain: The NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence has announced that Merle Maigre will assume the role of director on Sept. 1, taking over from Sven Sakkov.

Sakkov has been director of the Tallinn, Estonia-based hub for multinational, interdisciplinary cyber defense research, training and exercises since 2015. He leaves to take the role of director of the International Centre for Defence and Security, a Tallinn-based security and defense policy think tank.

Maigre joins the NATO CCD COE following a stint as the security policy adviser to Estonia’s president since 2012. She has also served as a policy adviser in the office of NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, worked as a researcher at the ICDS, and as deputy head of the NATO Liaison Office in Kyiv and at the NATO Department in Estonia’s Ministry of Defence.
