Obama to tap Chicago economist for post
The Chicago Tribune: WASHINGTON President Barack Obama, during a news conference Friday, will name noted Chicago economist and key White House adviser Austan Goolsbee to head the Council of Economic Advisers.
A data-driven economist known for his work in tax policy, Goolsbee will step up from his current position as a member of the council to head the group at a crucial moment, said an administration official, who requested anonymity because the formal announcement has not yet been made.
