New Jersey’s Exxon Settlement Questioned

The Wall Street Journal (online registration required): New Jersey’s proposed $225 million settlement with Exxon Mobil Corp. for environmental damage came under scrutiny on Thursday, as legislators and environmentalists called for investigations and a rejection of the deal.

Gov. Chris Christie’s administration said it aggressively pushed the case to trial and the deal “is the result of long-fought settlement negotiations that pre-dated and post-dated the trial.”
