Implement pipeline safety reforms sooner, House panel tells PHMSA

Oil & Gas Journal: US House Energy and Commerce Committee leaders strongly criticized the US Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration for not implementing more congressional mandates in the 2011 and 2016 federal pipeline safety authorizations as a subcommittee held a hearing on May 1 to begin preparing a replacement.

PHMSA Administrator Howard R. Elliott responded that the US Department of Transportation agency is working to ensure that US oil and gas pipelines are operated safely, and finalizing outstanding congressional mandates remains a priority.
