Democrats Press Privacy Concerns in CISPA Information-Sharing Bill
Homeland Security Today: A large group of Democratic lawmakers wrote Monday to the heads of the House Intelligence Committee to urge them to amend their information-sharing bill to strengthen privacy safeguards in it.
The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) of 2011 (HR 3523), which is due for a vote in the full House on Thursday or Friday, goes too far in allowing military agencies like the National Security Agency to collect too much information on the daily Internet use of Americans for any purpose deemed legitimate, protested Democrats led by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee.
