Indiana's Plans to Change the Mindset on Large-Scale IT

Government Technology: When it comes to big technology upgrades, it can be challenging to translate the expected benefits to policymakers. In Indiana, aligning with the policy priorities of Gov. Eric Holcomb, CIO Dewand Neely is working in partnership with the state's Office of Management and Budget to ensure that large-scale IT initiatives are delivering the expected return on investment.

As Neely explained at last month's National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) midyear conference, their intention is to reconfigure processes so that tech deployments are evaluated more like investments, where business objectives are truly understood, thorough vetting ensures that resources are as well-managed as possible, and expectations are met or exceeded.
