NIST Takes IT Service Management into the Cloud

An i360Gov Special Report.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) adopted a cloud-based IT service management solution using the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework to improve IT service delivery performance, increase automation of time-consuming tasks and leverage self-service to drive greater efficiency and customer satisfaction.

NIST’s goal was to renovate prior IT service management tools, which has led other agencies, including the Department of Energy’s HQ, the International Trade Administration, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Institutes of Health, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Department of Interior’s Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement to follow NIST’s lead in researching, investing in a ServiceNow cloud ITSM platform.
