Introduced with Congressman Bobby Rush (D-IL), the Energy Emergency Leadership Act (H.R. 362) elevates the Department of Energy's energy security and emergency functions to an Assistant Secretary level in agency leadership that is reflective of its importance across the agency, the government and to the nation.
"America's energy infrastructure is increasingly under attack from hackers that are becoming more sophisticated by the day," said Walberg. "These evolving attacks pose a significant risk to our national and economic security, and we need to be taking every step possible to ensure the electric grid that powers our daily lives is secure and resilient. I am thankful to Chairman Rush for working with me to address this critical energy issue. Our bipartisan bill modernizes the Department of Energy's leadership structure for the 21st century, providing greater accountability and capability to mitigate threats that come with the digital age."
