The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it will offer temporary manufactured homes to Colorado residents who have been unable to find housing after last month’s floods.

KUSA-TV reported Thursday that the agency says the 50 HUD-approved homes are needed because of a housing shortage. More than 400 families are still living in hotels.

FEMA emphasizes the manufactured homes will not be the same ones used in the Katrina disaster but are HUD-approved homes similar to what you would find in any mobile home park.

They will likely be placed on existing concrete pads.

The federal agency told the television station that this type of temporary housing is considered a last resort but is needed because of Colorado’s housing shortage.
