The Presidential Innovation Fellows program is now accepting applications for its Spring 2017 cohort, according to a blog post by Megan Smith, U.S. CTO, and Nathan Olson, acting director of the PIF program.

Established by the White House in 2012 and administered by the General Services Administration – now as part of the new Technology Transformation Service business line – the PIF program recruits nationwide talent from the private sector to be agency "entrepreneurs-in-residence" and tackle initiatives at startup speed.

Teamed with directors and program leads from dozens of federal agencies, PIFs take 12-month "tours of duty" addressing topics that have included veterans affairs, economic opportunity and gender pay equality, community policing, cybersecurity, cancer clinical trials and open source code, among others. Over 100 fellows have participated to date, collaborating on solutions for policies to product development.

Interested candidates have until 11:59 P.M. EST on Dec. 11 to fill out an application, which can be found on the PIF website.
