Despite ICD-10 having been delayed three times already by the federal government, industry analysts say healthcare officials should treat Oct. 1, 2015, as the official set-in-stone kickoff date.

True. It's hard to know for certain, especially when there's been a consistent trend of ICD-10 pushbacks, but as Craig Greenberg, national practice director for advisory services at the Weymouth, Massachusetts-based Beacon Partners is telling his clients: they have no reason to believe the date will be delayed yet again.

"We are advising clients to move forward with momentum," he said. "Now that we are inside the 12-month time frame, we anticipate organizations to have a renewed focus on preparations for ICD-10 implementation."

And, as the go-live date approaches, industry professionals, who are advocates of the new code set, have taken to Twitter to publicly rally for the switchover.
