Security for Super Bowl 50 will be tight as officials exercise an abundance of caution in the wake of recent terrorist attacks, even though authorities say there have been no specific or credible threats.
Hundreds of law enforcement agents are being deployed to the Santa Clara area this week ahead of the Sunday night game at Levi’s Stadium, and the FBI will send bomb experts, SWAT teams and, for a worst-case scenario, evidence collection technicians, Reuters reports. The FBI will also have planes and helicopters monitoring events from the air, and the Transportation Security Administration will have “behavior detection officers” observing the crowds for suspicious activity.

While officials were reluctant to detail how this year’s preparations differ from past years, an FBI special agent said the game represents “a high-profile target” that gives would-be attackers “a great deal of publicity.”
