The data potentially accessed by the cyberintruder included basic information about individual donations to the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library. Officials maintain that banking information was untouched in the incident.

(TNS) — Hackers earlier this year may have accessed names, addresses and other information about donors to the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, Library Director Mary Jean Jakubowski reported Monday in an email to library cardholders.

Financially sensitive information was not affected, she said.

Jakubowski said that the data breach may have occurred during a ransomware attack between Feb. 7 and May 20 on a database maintained by Blackbaud, one of the library’s software vendors.

Blackbaud blocked the intruders, Jakubowski noted, and removed them from their system, but not before donor information had been accessed.

The data included names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses and basic information about individual donations.

Jakubowski said that the intruders did not touch any information about credit cards, bank accounts, passwords or Social Security numbers.
