US House staff veteran chosen to be API's next president

Oil & Gas Journal: Mike Sommers, who was chief of staff for US House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) and had other House leadership roles for more than a decade before becoming president of the American Investment Council in 2016, was elected president of the American Petroleum Institute on May 2.

Sommers will succeed Jack N. Gerard, who announced earlier that he would retire after 10 years leading the largest US oil and gas industry association when his contract expires this summer (OGJ Online, Jan. 18, 2018).
