Conservatives in Congress push for hearing on repeal bill next week

Modern Healthcare: House conservatives are pushing for a hearing on a reconciliation bill that would repeal the Affordable Care Act. Some in the GOP worry that plans and the motivation to kill the ACA are dying.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) said during a meeting with reporters Wednesday hosted by the Heritage Foundation that House Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) would host briefings with members next week about Medicaid reform and health savings accounts.

Meadows was joined by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). Meadows, Lee and Jordan are all members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. However, all three confirmed that there is still no consensus on what should replace the law, but everyone agrees the bill should be repealed in the next two to three months so that Congress can turn their attention to other matters such as crafting a new federal budget.
