FCC kicks text-to-911 up a notch

Government Health IT: The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved new rules compelling text messaging providers to enable Americans to text 911 in an emergency. The rules will apply to all wireless carriers as well as to IP-based text application providers, although not to social media messaging or gaming apps such as Facebook or Twitter.
