Earthquake Program Would Require Retrofitting of Los Angeles Buildings
The New York Times: LOS ANGELES — In the most sweeping campaign directed at earthquake safety ever attempted here, Los Angeles officials proposed Monday to require owners of vulnerable apartment complexes and office buildings to invest millions of dollars in strengthening structures and guarding against catastrophic damage in a powerful earthquake.
