Environmental Protection Agency gives cities money for stormwater management pilot

American City and County: Five U.S. cities will receive $150,000 each to serve as pilot communities in a new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) stormwater management initiative.

The initiative involves the cities utilizing an online toolkit, technical assistance and a draft guide the EPA has created to help communities develop long-term plans for managing stormwater pollution, WaterOnline reports. So far, the guide has been released, but the online toolkit will be released in the future, according to the EPA’s website.

“As stormwater increasingly threatens public health and the environment, EPA can help communities integrate stormwater management with broader plans for growing their economies, investing in critical infrastructure, and meeting their water quality objectives,”  EPA Office of Water Deputy Assistant Administrator Joel Beauvais said in an EPA news release.
