New drone rules apply to business, not hobbyists — yet
Detroit Free Press: Small-business owners around Detroit said they’d welcome new nationwide regulations going into effect today for using unmanned aircraft systems — better known as drones.
The new regulations from the Federal Aviation Administration apply just to commercial drone operators — not hobbyists. They’re far simpler than the interim rules operators labored under for years while they awaited today's regulations, said Jon Rimanelli, founder and CEO of Detroit Aircraft.
