Feds blast BP’s request to cut billions in spill fines

Fuel Fix: HOUSTON – U.S. attorneys are contesting BP’s request for a federal judge to cap its potential pollution fines at $3,000 a barrel, arguing that environmental regulators are well within their legal bounds to hike the penalties for the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
