Oregon's goal: Improve health care for poor while trimming Medicaid costs
Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel: Oregon is trying to rewire the way the health care system works by improving health care for the poor while at the same time trying to cut Medicaid costs. It is a high-stakes undertaking that uses an unorthodox approach and is funded by a $1.9 billion waiver from the federal government that gives the state more flexibility. The effort focuses on the poor, making them the centerpiece of efforts to spend less and give better care.
