Immigration Services Agency Cancels Furloughs for 13,000 Employees
Government Executive: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has canceled furloughs for more than 13,000 employees scheduled to begin at the end of the month, following months of threats to send about 70% of its workforce home without pay.
The Homeland Security Department component said its financial situation, coupled with cost cutting measures, had improved sufficiently to avoid the forced time off. USCIS, a fee-funded agency, had previously said the furloughs were necessary due to a significant decline in receipts during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
