New Jersey Gets 40 MWh of New Utility-Scale Energy Storage

Renewable Energy World: Two new 20-MW/20-MWh stand-alone utility-scale energy storage installations are set to come online in New Jersey this year.

South Burlington, Vt.-based Dynapower today said it will supply the battery energy storage systems (BESS) for the projects, which Ormat Technologies subsidiary Viridity Energy Solutions will design, own and operate, in Plumsted Township and Alpha, New Jersey. The BESS includes inverters, batteries and enclosures, coordinating site controls and all battery thermal management. Viridity’s software will provide optimization, economic value stacking and automated control of the BESS.

Dynapower said it secured a master supplier agreement with Viridity, and the two N.J. systems are the first projects under that agreement.
