Utility attorney says Illinois’ success a credit to stakeholder collaboration

Energy News Network: Chicago attorney Mark Johnson joked that when he got his first job out of law school at the high-powered firm Sidley Austin LLP, he didn’t know they had a regulatory division, and might have been scared away if he’d known. Today he represents ComEd and other energy companies with a focus on competitive markets, technology and disruption in a quickly-changing regulatory environment.

The Financial Times recognized him in its North America Innovative Lawyers report for his involvement in Illinois’ 2016 Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA). Johnson, who also has experience in anti-trust litigation and white-collar crime, talked with the Energy News Network about his thoughts on FEJA and the things he is keeping an eye on.
