Obama signs mental health provisions into law

Government Health IT: What with all the debate on Capitol Hill and deep in the healthcare trenches leading up to the passage of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 late Tuesday, perhaps it should not be entirely surprising that President Obama actually signing it into law passed with about as much ceremony as grass growing.

Take the mental health piece, for instance. Section 223, or Demonstration Programs to Improve Community Mental Health Services, which co-sponsoring Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Roy Blunt (R-MO) are also calling the Excellence in Mental Heath Act, began during February 2013 in response to the tragic shootings at Sandy Hook elementary school.
