Alaska CIO Talks Cloud, Connectivity and Mainframe Alternatives
Government Technology: As part of its coverage of the 2015 NASCIO Midyear Conference, Government Technology spoke with Alaska CIO Jim Bates about his state’s unique connectivity challenges and its hybrid computing environment. Bates says Alaska’s remoteness has slowed adoption of commercial cloud services, but it hasn’t stopped them altogether. The state’s Department of Labor recently shifted mainframe applications to a commercial cloud platform, prompting the state to re-evaluate the rest of its mainframe systems.
