Trash talking: Cities finding smarter ways to collect our waste

Treehugger: Four years ago, the World Bank issued a warning about waste management in our rapidly growing cities. Its Urban Development department projected that the amount of municipal solid waste (MSW) would increase from 1.3 billion tonnes per year to 2.2 billion tonnes per year by 2025, while the annual global cost of solid waste management would rise from $205 billion to $375 billion.
