DHS Components Lacked Coordination In Aftermath Of San Bernardino Terrorist Attacks

Homeland Security Today: The day after the deadly San Bernardino attacks in December 2015, Department of Homeland Security components, specifically Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), engaged in dispute over ICE’s authority to detain a suspected terrorist. The incident could have led to “disastrous consequences,” according to a recent DHS Office of the Inspector General (OIG) report.
