Trump Looks to Executive Orders as Coronavirus Aid Talks Falter

Route Fifty: With White House negotiators unable to reach an agreement with congressional Democrats on funding for state and local governments and federal unemployment insurance as part of a coronavirus aid package, they recommended Friday that President Trump issue executive orders to provide some form of temporary aid.  

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the orders, which he indicated would address federal unemployment benefits, eviction protection and student loan deferrals, will serve as a stopgap measure while negotiations on a broader bill continue.
