California lawmakers introducing aid-in-dying bill
San Francisco Chronicle: SACRAMENTO — Terminally ill Californians would be able to legally end their lives with a doctor-prescribed dose of drugs under a bill being introduced Wednesday that two lawmakers have modeled after Oregon’s “death with dignity” law.
State Sens. Lois Wolk, D-Davis, and Bill Monning, D-Carmel, say they believe their bill has a strong chance of winning majority support in the Legislature this year because of powerful momentum set off recently in the aid-in-dying movement due to Brittany Maynard, the 29-year-old terminally ill newlywed from the East Bay who moved to Oregon to end her life.
